Tippy was found in late December wandering the streets, cold and alone. At the shelter, she received a much-needed dental and mammary tumor removal surgery. The shelter then reached out for rescue help to pull Tippy to ensure this senior was healthy enough for adoption. One of our CAWS foster moms saw her sweet face and said “Yes”. Not long after becoming a CAWS dog, Tippy went into congestive heart failure. Additionally, her mammary masses returned and her eyes began having issues. Unfortunately due to her heart condition, Tippy was not a candidate for any surgery. Sadly, Tippy was dying and, as sometimes happens, her foster home became her hospice home. Her foster parents understood that while they couldn’t provide any extensive medical intervention, they could make her remaining days extraordinary! And they did! As all hospice homes know, when their foster pups’ happy days become overshadowed by pain, it’s their duty to allow these sweet souls to go peacefully and with dignity. On September 1, 2018, Tippy crossed over to Rainbow Bridge surrounded by those who loved and adored her. Tippy went from a life of neglect to becoming a beloved member of an incredible family; she was spoiled and pampered every single day for nearly 8 months. In those 8 months, Tippy experienced more things than some dogs do in a lifetime. Tippy went on trips to the farm, hiking, evening walks, and car rides. She ate puppy patties, cookie butter, and treats – SO many treats! She gave and received kisses, experienced warm blankets, couch snugs, playing in the yard, and lounging in the sun on a hammock.
