Rizzo

Big and beautiful Rizzo was rescued by CAWS after being dumped at a local shelter, scared and confused. This beautiful girl was morbidly obese and desperate for a balanced home.

We are so proud of her progress and happy to report that she is down 43 lbs and finally feeling confident and happy! Along with this weight loss comes the freedom to move and run like a young 4 year old dog should be able to!

Sadly, this success has been short lived. Once sweet Rizzo was FINALLY able to start getting around we discovered that she has a terribly painful, torn ACL.

Giant breeds like Rizzo simply can not live without the use of all legs. Well, not with any quality of life. We have worked so hard to get her to a successful place and are committed to seeing that through. In order to regain full use of her leg she will require a major surgery to repair the tendons in her knee, one that requires a special surgeon and at a cost of about $3500.

Rizzo deserves to be able to walk and even run exactly as she should, and not suffer in pain. She has many more years of life and we are committed to seeing that she gets the life changing surgery that will give her that hard-earned freedom!
