Luna’s Eye Repair
UPDATE – 12/21
Hooray for Luna! She is the best girl- full of life and love and never stops moving. She underwent surgery to repair her eye and is doing excellent! In these action photos, her eye is still shaved and looking rough but immediately after surgery you could tell a major difference and see that she is feeling much, much better.
“It’s not crusty and goopy anymore and it doesn’t look inflamed. I can’t wait to see what it looks like completely healed! Thank you so much for helping Luna and for giving us the ability to help her and help her recover- did you hear she is getting adopted! We are so happy for her!”- Luna’s foster family
We rescued sweet and regal Luna from a local Utah shelter. Her existence until that point was for the sole purpose of being a mother to designer puppies; she was without proper care or access to medical treatment. Luna arrived at the shelter unkept, and with a horrible stinky eye infection. After doing multiple rounds of treatment, a specialist determined that Luna needs surgery if she is to keep her eye and vision.
The surgery is intricate, however almost always successful- Entropion. Her surgery will remove excess eyelid (birth defect) that is causing irritation, crusty and stinky infection, and damage to the surface of her eye because the eyelid is actually rolling up inside of her eye socket- we can only imagine the discomfort and pain.
