Helping Hannah
$3,260 of $5,000 raised
UPDATE – 8/7
Miss Hannah has been improving every day, slowly but surely. She had gained almost two whole pounds, is growing in some beautiful peach fuzz fur, and is occasionally standing on her back legs!
Unfortunately, we have also learned that her paralysis and incontinence are likely permanent and she will be a wheelchair girl for the rest of her life. Luckily, she doesn’t mind at all and is happy to zoom around in her wheels.
A huge thank you to Dr. Verona at Animal Care Center for providing her with acupuncture and laser therapy and helping us with a game plan.
UPDATE – 7/28
Wow, we are so incredibly humbled by the outpouring of support and donations. It’s clear that you, our tribe, are as passionate about these critters as we are. We are so thankful for the response to help us find her a set of wheels also! Luckily, one of our local Utah shelters had a spare set for us to use- she immediately lit up at the freedom to move about.
Our first step is to get her healthy and then work to address her long-term mobility. Hannah was seen and treated for mange and ear infections. She has so much relief in her eyes!
We are still in need of donations to cover her upcoming medical needs and care. Thank you all so much for helping us help her, we will continue to update you on her progress.
Much love- Hannah and the CAWS team!
This is not a story that will leave you with feel-goods.
This is also not a story that is unfamiliar to us here at CAWS.
This IS however a story of survival and hope.
Meet Hannah, found in a dumpster, her history is unknown. We don’t know who kept her this way, in obviously horrendous conditions, or for how long. We know she’s had multiple litters of puppies, that she is paralyzed, and that she is covered in painful, nasty mange on 50% of her body. She has huge drag sores all over her emaciated limbs and joints and anywhere her bare bones have been hitting and dragging the hard ground. She has survived in an environment where only our nightmares exist. She has skin infections, ear infections, and long overgrown nails making her already limited mobility just that more miserable.
At first glance, we thought ‘how could we possibly fix this? Is there any quality of life? These are real and sobering questions we must ask ourselves of the animals that arrive to us, desperate for help. However, after only a few moments with Hannah, we were rolling up our shirt sleeves! This girl has FIGHT and WILL to live and immediately upon meeting us, even in her deplorable condition, was all wags and kisses for our volunteers, soaking up every millisecond of affection and love that she could get.
We are going to work to fix this wrong.
We will need YOUR help to do it.
After a visit with one of our trusted vets yesterday, we feel hopeful.
Step 1: We have to get her healthy- treat the skin infections, pressure/drag sores, ear infections, and get some good weight on her bones- while working quickly to find her a wheelchair. Giving her some independence and freedom to move without causing further damage or pain.
Step 2: Medications, physical therapy, and laser treatments to regain mobility. This will cost us, we will need help to put this horrible situation behind her. Can you help us?
We are a non-profit animal rescue group and never steer away from these horrible situations. We can only maintain that level of commitment with financial help from our supporters and generous donors.
Please help us help Hannah!!! Donate today to help us, help her!
Thank you from all of us- The CAWS Team
