“Has head wound”
These are the words written by the owners as they surrendered Zoey to a rural Utah shelter. At 12 years old, this absolutely darling, sweet senior girl was dumped with a huge, gaping and infected wound covering a large portion of one ear and part of her head.
We received a desperate plea for help moments after Zoey’s people walked out and left her behind. Was this horrific injury a result of abuse? Neglect? Could we salvage her ear, and to what extent was her injury? She needed rescue and medical treatment ASAP! CAWS agreed to help and immediately arranged for her transport, and to get her into see one of our amazing vets.
UPDATE: Zoey was able to undergo surgery to remove a large ruptured and infected tumor, growing on her scalp and ear. We are saddened to think of how long she had likely been suffering before finally getting help. After blood work, tumor removal, and a biopsy to see what we are dealing with, our estimated bill will be around $500, possibly more.
Please consider a donation to help us pay for this overdue medical treatment. Our mission to save as many as we can depends on the support we receive from passionate people like you! Thank you for helping us help Zoey!
