Charlotte
Charlotte is a SUPER sweet 7-month-old female lab mix with a lifetime of adventure awaiting her. She was brought into the CAWS program from a high kill shelter where she was surrendered by her owner, along with several others from the household, because her owner had too many animals and was violating the city ordinance. Things were not looking very promising for young Charlotte, as the odds of making it out of that overflowing shelter alive were dismal… CAWS to the rescue!
It wasn’t long before Charlotte’s wonderful foster recognized that she appeared to have mobility issues and walked differently than she should, given her young age. X-rays were taken to see if she had sustained prior trauma, which was not the case, but they found poor Charlotte to have bilateral hip dysplasia resulting in hip instability and laxity of her joints, causing her hip pain and limb dysfunction. A young 7-month-old pup like Charlotte with non-functional hip joints is destined for a lifetime of daily pain with minimal exercise tolerance. 🙁
Charlotte deserves the opportunity to romp and play and enjoy all the pain-free adventures a sweet young pup like her should enjoy. Her amazing foster has committed to caring for her and seeing her through the necessary (several weeks) course of strict post-surgical care and rehabilitation and CAWS is dedicated to providing this sweet girl with the corrective surgery she needs… but we need your help!
