Baby Hendrix Needs You!

$350 of $850 raised

The Story

Sweet Hendrix’s is in big-time trouble. He can’t stand up, he can’t balance and he walks in wobbly circles. This baby poodle came to us when his family surrendered him to the shelter in serious need of emergency medical care after being dropped by the family’s toddler.
We initially felt that Hendrix had a Traumatic Brain Injury which is requiring 24 hour vet care, hand feeding and constant supervision.
Hendrix is stable, happy, and in the best care however we feel like he should be making more improvements and feel that our best chance of helping him survive will require more testing.
For now we are keeping him safe and comfortable. If we are to help this baby win the fight we will have to do more then that.
CAWS is committed to the animals in our care and will do what ever is necessary to help them along in their journey. In this case, Hendrix is just starting out in life. We must do what we can to give this baby a chance.
Our current bill with our 24 hour vet, including meds and some testing, is at $850. We expect to see that number rise in the coming days.
Will you help us save baby Hendrix?

FIGHT FOR RIOT!

$100 of $1,500 raised

The Story

Here at CAWS we operate mostly on faith and hope. This week we were contacted to see if we were willing to help with a very special puppy who has survived on just that, faith and hope.At just 12 weeks old, sweet Riot was savagely attacked by none other then his own K9 mother, mangling most of his upper body including his head, face, ear, chest and right front leg and foot.
We will never know what caused her to turn. After being found nearly lifeless, Riot was rushed to the emergency vet. He was not expected to live through the night.Riot is a fighter though! After 2 weeks of IV fluids and numerous attempts to salvage parts of his mangled body he has reached his summit and is finally starting to heal!  It’s truly miraculous. What’s even more amazing is that this sweet baby absolutely loves everyone and everything he meets.
Riot is not out of the clear; however, we will continue to fight with him while his battered little body continues to battle skin infections, a leg fracture and the loss of all of the toes on his right foot.
As you know, CAWS is a volunteer operated and donation funded rescue. We are only able to help when we have the funds to do so and we can not do this with out you. Please consider a tax-deductible donation today and join us in the FIGHT FOR RIOT!

Help Edith go from Under Dog to WONDER Dog!!

$0 of $1,600 raised

The Story

The moment our volunteers laid eyes on Edith was the moment we knew she needed us.   She was sitting on death row in a high-kill shelter when CAWS made the quick decision to rescue her and have her transported to us.
Edith was your lost-in-the-shadows, typical black pit bull mix we always see on the weekly urgent list.  You know, the ones that are almost always overlooked.  She had one horribly infected eye and a defeated look but her spirit was still glimmering through the rubble.
Once she arrived and settled in to her foster home we realized Edith had likely been shot in the face, leaving her with a badly damaged and infected eye that has since gone blind.  She also required immediate removal of buck shot that was embedded in and around her face.
After a close examination we were devastated to discover that this poor girl has been living with a very painful ailment that causes her rear knees to pop out of place, causing her to deal with a significant amount of pain and discomfort.
Her only option is to undergo surgery to correct her knees.  We are prepared to do what it takes to give this girl a fresh start and a real chance at a pain-free life.  Our Vets estimate that this life-changing surgery will cost $1600.

Saving Chloe and Her Puppy

$25 of $2,000 raised

The Story

CAWS was just contacted to help save Chloe and her puppy. We don’t have many details yet but Chloe needs an emergency section to save her life and her unborn puppy. She needs an emergency c-section that her owners cannot afford.
We commit to getting all the details ASAP but hope our wonderful supporters can help us save her and her puppy!

Update!

Little Chloe is out of surgery and is doing well; however, she did lose her pup.  He came out breathing but had a cleft.  Unfortunately he did not make it. We are dedicated to Chloe and her after care, she will go into a foster home in the morning where she will recover & eventually go up for adoption. Thank you all that have donated, we still have a ways to go, so please keep sharing Chloe’s fundraiser!

Saving Bella

$0 of $2,500 raised

The Story

CAWS received an emergency call last night from a fellow rescuer. Sweet Bella was found by a river,  laying in the mud,  unable to move.  She was rushed to a local vet,  where it was determined that she was severely dehydrated, ice cold and suffering from a severe broken pelvis. Despite her extensive injuries,  she was purring and making biscuits on the blanket.  CAWS immediately stepped in to make sure this girl got the immediate and life saving treatment that she needed. Bella is now stabilized and will be undergoing surgery so that she can walk again.  CAWS could not accomplish this without your support.
