2005 Award

In June 2005, at the ninth annual Utah Awards for Distinguished Service to Animals, CAWS was honored to receive the 2005 Nonprofit Animal Organization of the Year award. The award is engraved:

In recognition of your ambitious efforts to promote public awareness
about homeless pets and feral cats, create solutions to the
pet overpopulation problem, and improve animal welfare across Utah.

This award honors the many people who are CAWS - the individuals who each choose to make a lasting difference for animals, including:

  • Volunteers, who give more time, caring, and resources than can ever be measured
  • Participating CAWS veterinarians, whose compassionate support is essential to our programs
  • Generous donors, who know that our programs all require financial support to provide services to animals in need

We also thank No More Homeless Pets in Utah, who sponsors these annual awards. NMHP has brought together the rescue efforts of the many Utah animal organizations, benefitting Utah's cats and dogs, and the people who work to help them. CAWS is pleased to be a part of this coalition. This is the second time CAWS has received this statewide award - CAWS was also honored as Animal Organization of the Year in 2000.

This wonderful recognition represents the power of the compassionate work and generosity of so many people working together to help dogs and cats, and also the feral cats, of our communities.
